Chapter 6: Bratislava (its not so bad after all)

After Tadas had given a bit of a bashing, we were all a bit curious about what to expect. Personally, once you got into the old town, I was pleasantly surprised. The castle was a little bit of a let down for me – only because a) you couldn't get in it and b) the are restoring it, but not the same as it used to be.

Still, its a big honking castle. Not something I see every day. Tadas tells us they have an expression over here, “AFC”. The A stands for Another, and the C is for Castle. You can work out the rest.

Anyway, it was a nice little day trip.

Got the train back to Vienna that afternoon (only about an hour away) and the gang had a meander thru the markets there. Would be good to be able to buy some of the breads, meats or cheeses, but yeah... kinda can't (unless you plan on scarfing them down straight away)

We all had one more delicious (but positively fattening) dinner. Mine was turkey stuffed with ham and cheese – on a bed of gnocchi like stuff. Hello.

Tomorrow – Shrek country!

  1. Great photos once again....but where are the tourists, everything looks deserted!

  2. I usually waited until people buggered off... but compared to other places, there wasn't very many. Certainly no queues or people to push around in the streets.
